Saying goodbye to my inguinal hernia
In 2009 I noticed an odd pain near my right groin when sitting for long periods at my desk. Knowing what I know now about health I would have paid attention to this messenger. At the time I did not. Sometime later I was carrying a heavy item to my car and the hernia let go. I dropped the box and vomited with the pain.
And so began nearly 15 years of trial and error to deal with this. I tried walking around with my hand pressing on it to get relief. Not ideal when you need both hands, and people also wonder what you are doing. I tried strong duct tape – not a great idea when you are a hairy as me. I tried these weird undergarment that provide support ish! The best assist I found was a plastic sunglasses case that had rounded sides and ends. I could wedge this under the waistband and belt of my jeans and it did a pretty good job of supporting me. My thought was if I can provide support perhaps the tear or whatever it was would heal.
I will not visit the doctors, and have little faith in the operation to install mesh, having read plenty of stories online.
Move forward to 2024, 15 long years later. I have had periods where the hernia was no trouble at all and I did not need the glasses case, but I always had it nearby just in case. Over the last 4 years or so I have been needing the support daily. Late in 2024 I started pummelling the area with my fist every morning. This did provide some assistance and improvement but not much.
However, very interesting things happen when we turn our attention to a problem and then look for the cause. Following these 4 simple steps we can resolve almost anything.
1. What is the condition?
2. What is the causation?
3. What is the correction?
4. Can we get confirmation it is resolved?
As I have seen with so many others, myself included, I had never addressed number 2, causation, and jumped instead to number 3, correction.
When I turned my attention on causation in my mind we should look at physical damage, toxicity and nutritional deficiency. While there was some kind of damage to allow the hernia to exist, I did know know of anything that had happened to injure me in that area. Nor could I think of any physical or emotional toxicity. This leaves nutritional deficiency to be scrutinised.
In The Biochemic System of Medicine by George Washington Carey and Wilheim Heinrich Schuessler I read that the primary remedy is Calc Phos (calcium phosphate). So I bought some from Helios and started three in the morning and three at night, under the tongue. I stopped the pummelling just prior to the arrival of the tissue salts.
Just 6 days later (yesterday 15/12/24) I noted that I had not reached for the glasses case when I dressed in the morning. So I spent the day without it. The hernia never once troubled me, until just before bed. The next day was the same, no need for the support. This is the first time in several years I have not needed the support every day. I am excited to see where this leads.
